Pioneering HVDC Light® technology will enable Dogger Bank Wind Farm to support UK’s clean electricity demand, powering six million UK homes.

Enabling clean energy to be transmitted from West to East China via 1,000-kilovolt gas-insulated lines. Due to China’s large geographic size, power sources are mostly located away from cities. Consequently, electricity must travel several hundreds, or even thousands, of kilometers to reach consumption points. For this purpose, ultra-high-voltage (UHV) transmission technologies are used to deliver large amounts of power across long distances and with lower energy losses.

Power Grids delivered Latin America’s first digital substation in Brazil in 2018, Enel Green Power took note. The company, a global leader in the green energy sector, decided to digitalize its assets operations and processes to improve energy efficiency, lower maintenance costs and increase its use of sustainable solutions.

Power Grids is providing reliable high-voltage equipment for this project, working closely with Linjemontage, a leading Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC). Together with Vattenfall, a leading European energy company, the companies are enabling reliable supply of 100 percent renewable electricity.

The project will contribute towards the country’s transformation to become a regional hub for electricity exchange with Africa and Europe. Aiming to cope with rapid population growth and increased power demand, Egypt is trying to improve its grid reliability. For the strategic expansion of its Toshka 2 substation, manufacturing company El Sewedy Electric T&D contracted ABB to deliver high-voltage gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) and shunt reactors to ensure reliable power supply.

Showing how our solutions are delivering more voltage stability and reducing the risk of power interruptions in the Northeastern US. Coopers Mill substation near Windsor, Maine, is part of AVANGRID’s multi-billion-dollar effort to make its electrical grid servicing in New York, Maine and other parts of New England safer, more reliable, and more storm resilient.

Power Grids was contracted by Terna in a four-year framework contract with Italy’s transmission system operator (TSO), Terna, to provide gas-insulated switchgear as a result of a European tender. The TSO is responsible for securing and dispatching electricity throughout the country.
