Hitachi Energy Shanghai Power System Engineering Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi Energy Group, is responsible for its grid business of grid integration and power quality solutions in China. The company was established in 2015 and is located in the Jinqiao Zone of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone. The MMC factory in Beijing, with leading technology and advanced production equipment transferred from Hitachi Energy's R&D center in Switzerland, design and manufacture Multilevel Modular Converter, the core equipment of SVC Light® STATCOM static synchronous reactive power compensation devices. This plant is Hitachi Energy's second MMC valve production center in the world, providing sales, after-sales service, technical consultation and technical services for its own products for both domestic and overseas markets.

The company focuses on engineering design and equipment sets for conventional substations, prefabricated substations, mobile substations, and port shore power. It provides comprehensive solutions for system design, equipment manufacturing, acceptance, delivery, installation guidance, commissioning and performance assurance for Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) and power quality management. We provide advanced and mature solutions for variable speed pumped storage units, offering core inverter products and solutions for both variable speed pumped storage solutions, including PCS8000 AC excitation inverters, Hydro SFC Light full power inverters, and control and protection systems developed for variable speed pumped storage applications.

The company so far has successfully delivered substation projects suitable for different environmental conditions up to 500 kV. As the engineering company of Hitachi Energy in China for grid access and power quality business, Hitachi Energy Shanghai Power Systems Engineering Co., Ltd. is qualified to design and turnkey the domestic power transmission and substation business. Since obtaining the design and turnkey qualification, the company has delivered a large number of orders for system integration business, such as Oyu Tolgoi copper and gold mine of Rio Tinto Group in Mongolia, BOZSHAKOL copper mine and AKTOGAY copper mine of KAZAKHYMS Group in Kazakhstan, the iron ore mine of CITIC Group in Western Australia, the gasification project of Linde Gas in Singapore, the LNG station of Total in Mozambique, Air Products' NEOM Green Hydrogen Project, JUBAIL Project, Jazan Project in Saudi Arabia and Intel Prefabricated Distribution Center in Israel, and etc., all these highly challenging projects are fully customized and prefabricated and successfully delivered to the Owners. 

Designed and delivered 3 phases of substation electrical systems for Formosa Ningbo Industrial Park. Delivered several vehicle-mounted mobile substations for Henan Provincial Power Company Nanyang Bureau, Luoyang Bureau, Zhengzhou Aviation Port District Xingang Power and State Grid Jiangxi Shangrao Power Supply Company. Those deliveries in batch, multi-phase and continuous projects illustrate the trust of our customers on Hitachi Energy's mature and advanced technology solutions, the recognition of project execution and delivery capability, and verified the leading position of Hitachi Energy as a technology leader in the Chinese market. 

The company has built the first 220kV modular offshore booster station in China together with the State Power Investment Corporation (SPC). Through innovative solutions, it helped the construction and operation of 500MW offshore wind power project at SPIC Shandong Peninsula South V site, promoting the development and utilization of large-scale offshore wind power in China.

At the same time, the company upholds the introduction of leading power quality products and systems from Hitachi Energy globally, providing users with total solutions covering grid access and power quality in the fields of new grid access with large proportion of renewable energy and carbon emission reduction in heavy process industries, winning the engineering design, on-site service and equipment supply of SVC Light ®, a stationary synchronous reactive power compensation device for 130-ton electric arc furnace in Xinyu steel mill. The company's strategy to localize its power quality business has well prepared for the coming era of high-capacity electric arc furnaces in the Chinese market.
