Maintenance and Replacement of Hitachi Energy PQFS Active Harmonic Filters

This notice provides information for businesses and individuals who have purchased, installed, or are responsible for the maintenance of Hitachi Energy PQFS active harmonic filters.

The purpose of this notice is to inform you of changes to the expected lifespan and required replacement of output filter cards, located inside Hitachi Energy PQFS active harmonic filters.

Hitachi Energy has determined that the output filter cards should now be treated as a consumable component and be replaced every 5 years. This change is due to new data and analysis showing that the lifespan of capacitors mounted on output filter cards is shorter than previously thought and varies depending on use.

If your filter is more than 5 years old, the output filter card needs to be replaced. You may also be required to immediately disconnect your active filter from service.

It is important that you contact us as soon as possible to determine what action needs to be taken, as there is a risk that a potential thermal incident could occur, which may result in injury or damage.

If your filter is less than 5 years old, the new maintenance schedule requires the output filter card be replaced before it is 5 years old and then every 5 years.

What you need to do

If you have purchased, installed or are responsible for the maintenance of an Hitachi Energy PQFS active harmonic filter, please contact us as soon as possible and state that you are making contact regarding an “AU NZ PQFS output filter card replacement”.

For us to determine what action is required, you will be asked to provide details of your location, product serial number, date of commissioning and the number of Hitachi Energy PQFS active harmonic filters in use.
