Legal name change and brand migration
On July 1, 2020, we launched our new company, Hitachi ABB Power Grids. This marked the completion of the business transaction forming the joint venture between Hitachi and the Power Grids business of the ABB group. As communicated last year, Hitachi owns a stake of 80.1% and ABB 19.9% in the new entity.
We are now excited to be taking the next steps in our evolution and have commenced a brand migration program to change the name of our legal entities worldwide.
Why are we changing our name?
Our goal is to present ourselves as global technology leaders who are playing a key role in accelerating the energy transition. Our perspective is that electricity will be the backbone of the entire energy system and that the carbon-neutral future will be electric. By combining our experience and together, with customers and partners, we are developing energy and digital platforms that are underpinning the worldwide movement towards a carbon-neutral energy system – and towards sustainable society. Our Purpose is based on the concept of ‘Powering Good’ – a commitment to creating economic and social value while reducing environmental impact.
What this means for you as our Power Grids supplier
The legal entity name will be changed in waves across locations commencing in February 2021. You will receive a letter outlining the details of the legal name change in your location. For the avoidance of doubt, the terms and conditions of agreements signed by the former legal entity name shall remain unchanged.
Transition to the Hitachi brand
Running in parallel as a key component of the legal name changes, Hitachi ABB Power Grids will undergo a complete brand migration to our Hitachi master brand. Our new brand identity strengthens and reinforces the value of being part of Hitachi group and the opportunity this brings to us and you as our supplier. Business continuity is a key goal throughout the brand migration to the Hitachi master brand. We do not foresee any disruption to daily operations.
